A Foton BJ6123C bus operated by Lanka Metro Transit (LMT), bearing registration NE-6546, is seen operating on the CM 01 Makumbura - Pettah service. The bus is one of the 104 new Foton buses purchased for Lanka Metro Transit, which, together with seven Japanese-donated buses, were officially launched on 29 September 2026. At the time of this photograph, the Metro Drive - Homagama and Metro Base – Kasbewa depots had not yet commenced operations. Consequently, services assigned to the Metro Drive area were still being operated from the Makumbura Temporary Depot. CM 01 සේවාව ඔස්සේ පිටකොටුවේ සිට මාකුඹුර දෙසට ගමන් කරමින් තිබූ NE-6546 දරන මෙම බස් රථය, 2026 ඔක්තෝබර් 1 වන දින කොළඹ 08, කාසල් රෝහල් මංසන්ධියේ දී ඡායාරූපයට නගන ලදී.

A Foton BJ6129C bus operated by Lanka Metro Transit (LMT), bearing registration NE-5236, is seen operating on the CM 01 Makumbura - Pettah service. This bus was among the first 10 Foton buses introduced to Lanka Metro Transit under the “Clean Sri Lanka” project. At the time of this photograph, the newly established permanent Metro depots had not yet commenced operations. Therefore, these initial 10 buses were being operated from the Makumbura Temporary Depot, serving the initial routes from Makumbura. The photograph was taken on 1 September 2026 at Palam Thuna Junction, as NE-5236 was travelling from Pettah towards Makumbura on the CM 01 service. -- ලංකා මෙට්‍රෝ ට්‍රාන්සිට් සමාගමේ මාකුඹුර (තාවකාලික) ඩිපෝව යටතේ ධාවනය වන ෆෝටන් BJ6129C වර්ගයේ බස් රථයක් පාලම් තුන මංසන්ධියේ දී. Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) Ambalantota Depot MG Alma-bodied Ashok Leyland Leera luxury bus (NE-3617) is seen at the Makumbura Multimodal Center (MMC), moments before departing for Hambantota. The bus was obtained from Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC on a temporary hire basis and was allocated for expressway services between Makumbura and Hambantota via Agunukolapelessa. The bus was specially painted in a “Senkadagalapura” themed livery, featuring artwork inspired by the Sri Dalada Maligawa, traditional Kandyan elephants, and other cultural motifs associated with the heritage of Kandy. Lanka Metro Transit (LMT) has taken delivery of seven re-conditioned Nissan Diesel PKG-RA274KAN Space Runner buses, donated to Sri Lanka by the Japanese Government and the people of Yokohama, Japan. The official handover ceremony took place on 02 September 2026, with Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, HE Akio Isomata, formally presenting the vehicles to the Sri Lankan Government. The buses are currently parked at the Thalangama depot premises, before entering passenger service. -- ජපන් රජයේ හා යොකොහාමා නගර ජනතාවගේ ඒකාබද්ධ පරිත්‍යාගයක් ලෙස ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට ලැබුණු නිසාන් ඩීසල් PKG-RA274KAN ස්පේස් රනර් වර්ගයේ බස් රථ හතක්, 2026 සැප්තැම්බර් මස 02 වන දින නිල වශයෙන් ශ්‍රී ලංකා රජයට භාර දෙන ලදී. එහිදී ජපන් තානාපති අකියෝ ඉසොමටා මහතා විසින් මෙම බස් රථ ලංකා මෙට්‍රෝ ට්‍රාන්සිට් සමාගම වෙත නිල වශයෙන් බාරදෙන ලදී. දැනට තලංගම ඩිපෝ පරිශ්‍රයේ ගාල් කර ඇති මෙම බස් රථ, නුදුරේ දීම මගී සේවයට පිවිසීමට නියමිතය.

Lanka Metro Transit (LMT) has taken delivery of 104 brand-new Foton BJ6123C buses, marking another significant step towards modernizing Sri Lanka's public transport fleet. The new buses arrived in the country on 29 July 2026 and are currently stationed at the State Engineering Corporation (SEC) yard in Wattala, where they are undergoing inspection and pre-delivery preparations before entering passenger service. -- 2026 ජූලි මස 29 වන දින ලංකා මෙට්‍රෝ ට්‍රාන්සිට් (LMT) සමාගම වෙත ගෙන එන ලද ෆෝටන් BJ6123C බස් රථ 104 ක කාණ්ඩයකින් කොටසක් ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට ලැබුණි.  ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ පොදු ප්‍රවාහන ඇණිය නවීකරණය කිරීමේ තවත් වැදගත් පියවරක් සනිටුහන් කරමින් මෙරටට පැමිණි බස් රථ දැනට වත්තල රාජ්‍ය ඉංජිනේරු සංස්ථාවේ (SEC) අංගනයේ ස්ථානගත කර ඇති අතර, මගී සේවයට පිවිසීමට පෙර ඒවා පරීක්ෂා කිරීම සහ බෙදා හැරීමට පෙර සූදානම් කිරීම්, ආදාළ නියෝජිත ඉන්ද්‍රා ට්‍රේඩර්ස් සමාගම විසින් සිදු කරනු ලැබේ.

A new urban bus service was launched today under the Lanka Metro Transit (LMT) Company. As part of this initiative, 10 Foton BJ6129C model city buses received under the Clean Sri Lanka project were deployed for operation today as a pilot project. These buses, specially designed for urban transport, are equipped with essential features expected in a modern public transportation system. These include low-floor access, facilities to accommodate wheelchairs for passengers with disabilities, and automated fare payment systems. -- අද දින ලංකා මෙට්‍රෝ ට්‍රාන්සිට් (LMT) සමාගම යටතේ නවතම නාගරික බස් රථ සේවාවක් ආරම්භ කරන ලදී. ඒ යටතේ LMT වෙත Clean Sri Lanka ව්‍යාපෘතිය යටතේ ලැබුණු ෆෝටන් BJ6129C වර්ගයේ නාගරික සේවා බස් රථ 10ක් අද දින නියමු ව්‍යාපෘතියක් ලෙස ධාවනයට එක් කරන ලදී. නාගරික සේවා වෙනුවෙන් විශේෂයෙන් සැකසුනු මෙම බස් රථ පහත් පිවිසුම් හැකියාව, ආබාධිත පුරවැසියන්ගේ රෝද පුටු ඇතුළු කිරීමේ හැකියාව, ස්වයංක්‍රීය මුදල් ගෙවීමේ හැකියාව ඇතුළු සම්මත පොදු ප්‍රවාහන පද්ධතියක පැවතිය යුතු පහසුකම් වලින් සමන්විතය.
