Ekala Lakdiwa Engineering (pvt) Ltd. (Government owned / Previously SLTB Ekala workshop) owned, CTB bodied Leyland Comet staff bus (23ශ්‍රී3872) at Kataragama. -- ශ්‍රී ලංකා ප්‍රවාහන අමාත්‍යංශය මගින් ක්‍රියාත්මක වන ඒකල ලක්දිව ඉංජිනේරු (පුද්ගලික) සමාගම (මුලින් ලංගම ඒකල වැඩපොළ) සතු ලේලන්ඩ් කොමට් වර්ගයට අයත් සේවක ප්‍රවාහන බස් රථයක් කතරගම දී. 1971 වසරේ ලං.ග.ම. මගින් බඳ එකලස් කොට ධාවනයට එක්වූ බස් රථයකි. සෑම වසරකම දෙසැම්බර් 31 දින ශ්‍රී ලංගම මගින් සංවිධානය කෙරෙන පහන් පූජා පිංකමට සහාභාගී වීම සඳහා සේවක මහතුන් ප්‍රවාහනය කල අවස්ථාවකි.

ReplyDeleteGreat post and Blog. I salute your passion and commitment. I have a very interesting question to ask you. I am looking for a classical Ashok Leyland Comet grille badge. I see a number of buses with them on your blog and I am assuming I can get one easily from Sri Lanka from one of the condemned buses of one of the transport corporations . Can you give me some advice how to get one from SL ? Thanks. A Leyland Fan

DeleteI have a feeling that this is a British Leyland super comet ( Originally with a Leyland power plus engine ) similar to the one in the Moratuwa depot with a modified grill. These came as 23 Sri 3700 and 3800 series with a over hand slightly longer than the standard comet and the ashok comet. ....It had two rows seats behind the rear entrance..Like the Viking.
I am very familiar with this model as our school bus was one of these 23/3809 for a period of about a year .
